the FOWLERs

we have moved

So our house in Everett sold in just a few hours. I know what you're thinking..."you didn't price it high enough." Well I initially thought that but it turns out that getting our house to appraise for the purchase price was not a sure thing. It did end up working out and we've since moved from our crack-house neighborhood to the lovely and growing Issaquah Highlands. Not all the houses in our old neighborhood were crack houses...some housed registered sex-offenders...as it turns out, a plethora of them. Location, location, location. It's not just something fun to say I've learned.

So on to our new place. We live off of I-90's exit 18 in a lovely townhouse in the
Issaquah Highlands. It's the first time I actually have a garage attached to the house. I can't tell you how stoked I am about that. We can actually park our cars in the garage. Well...we could if it weren't filled with all our stuff that we've amassed in our five years of marriage. Yep...five years, comin' up...word. So I am a self-confessing pack rat...or is it just that I'm sentimental...for some reason I can't let go of homework that I did in the sixth grade. I did an awesome report on South Korea complete with display. And that copy of "Little Brown Jug" from beginning band may be useful someday. Well after paying some movers way too much money to move way too much stuff that's taking up way to much room in our garage I've decided to get rid of 50% of our stuff. Doesn't matter what it is 50% of it is going. First to a garage sale, a la Clean Sweep, then to ebay, then to Goodwill. Needless to say, we love it here. Sarah's commute is only about 10-15 minutes. We've visited two of the many parks in the Issaquah Highlands, Aria loves those and we're going to the off-leash dog park this weekend to let Toby and Maverick mark their territory.

Aria has started gymnastics at the Little Gym and is loving it. After just two weeks it's apparent that she is a natural and far more advanced than the other kids in her class. She can climb on to the balance beam and walk it by herself. AMAZING! [said in a sing-songy trilly voice...why?...cause that's what I do] We've visited one church in our area that our friends Phil and Jacqui go to and are looking forward to finding the place that God has for us. This is totally new for the Fowler family. We're picking the church instead of the church picking us. Since this has been a decision that I've typically made in the past, I'm putting the ball in Sarah's court [look at that...a sports metaphor] and letting her lead us in this exciting journey.

We've been informed that our "dogs bark all day." Someone kindly left an anonymous note filling us in. I had no idea. I just thought they waited quietly by the door for us to come home, occasionally moping around to sit in front of the sliding glass door to catch some rays (south facing, gets sun all day). But no, apparently they are quite verbal at the least provocation. So we did what I've been wanting to do since we got them...we got shock collars. Now before you go on and judge me for being inhumane and all let me tell you that these shock collars have a lot of protections on them and if the dogs do go on a barking fit it will turn off. It's got six levels of shock and elevates depending on frequency of bark/time. We now have two well behaved dogs who don't bark all day. Thank you "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest."

So we love the neighborhood and can't wait to explore some more. I'm actually taking my mountain bike in to the shop to get worked on [and get a new front wheel...mine flew off my rack years ago on 405]. It's gorgeous here and we can see some amazing sunsets. I'm enjoying being a part-time student and stay-at-home dad and Sarah loves being close to work and that everything is nice and pretty around here. Well...that's it for now.
